Where to take your wedding photos around Lausanne?
The canton of Vaud offers rare settings for wedding photos: Lake Geneva, the Lavaux vineyards and the Alps as a backdrop. Here are the places I most often recommend to couples, and how to make the most of them on the big day.

Lavaux, vineyards above the lake
Between Lausanne and Vevey, the terraced vineyards of Lavaux are a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The stone walls, the villages and the lake below make a spectacular setting, especially late in the day. Bring comfortable shoes to walk a few minutes through the vines.

Lausanne and Ouchy, between the lake and the old town
The Ouchy quays and the lakeside parks bring light and space, with the Alps opposite. For a more urban style, the lanes and stairways of the old town, around the cathedral, offer lovely contrasts. It is also the easiest choice when the ceremony takes place in Lausanne.

From Montreux to Nyon, along Lake Geneva
The Riviera, from Vevey to Montreux
Flower-lined quays, the lake and the mountains as a backdrop: the Riviera is ideal for bright couple photos. The lakeside promenades let you vary the settings in very little time.
La Côte, from Morges to Nyon
Vineyards, castles and lakeshores: La Côte blends heritage and nature. The castles of Morges and Nyon, the lakeside parks and the vineyards in between are perfect for couple sessions.
TIPS
My tips for great photos on location
Aim for the golden hour
Keep 15 minutes free about an hour before sunset. It is the most beautiful light of the day.
Stay close to your venue
A 20 to 30-minute couple session is enough if the spot is a few minutes away.
Have a plan B
Rain often makes for charming pictures. A few clear umbrellas and a covered fallback spot are all you need.
Ask for permission
Some estates, private parks and castles require permission for photos. Your venue can tell you more.
