THE STORY

A day at the Lausanne Palace

Sabrina and Idrisse got married at the Lausanne Palace, with a secular ceremony on the hotel's terrace. They planted an olive tree together, vows were read into the microphone, and a few tears were shed. We then took time for the group photos under the flower arch, and I took the two of them to face the lake at sunset. The evening went on with dinner, speeches, the cake and dancing.

Secular ceremony on the terrace

The ceremony took place in the open air, on the terrace of the Lausanne Palace, under a wide blue sky. Sabrina arrived on a loved one's arm, Idrisse kissed her forehead, and it all began. There was the olive tree planted together, the vows, the rings, then that kiss in front of all their guests. The hotel presents its spaces on its website.

After the ceremony, everyone came to hug them, at length. Then we settled under the flower arch, in front of the hotel's façade, for the group photos: the family, Sabrina's friends in burgundy dresses, Idrisse's friends. I take all the time it needs, so that nobody is missing.

At the end of the day, I took them both to a terrace overlooking the city and the lake. The sun was setting over Lake Geneva, and there was no one but them. They danced and held each other, forehead to forehead. This is often when the gentlest photos come, once nobody is posing.
